4 Anti-Inflammatory Christmas Foods

You probably know that inflammation is one of the leading causes of cancer in the world.

That means if you want to do all you can to fight cancer via fighting inflammation then you’re going to be in good shape.

One of the best ways to fight inflammation is by eating foods that are known to lower inflammatory response in the body.

And it just so happens that during the holidays you’re gong to be presented with some of the best foods at helping to flight inflammation.

Check out 4 of the best anti-inflammatory foods:
1- Pepperint: Candy canes are one ubiquitous during the holiday season. And the primary ingredients powering the candy cane is peppermint. Pepperming has quite a few healthy compounds inside and the one known to fight inflammation is in the memnthol in peppermint. “In a study published in the February 2011 issue of “Molecules,” scientists showed that peppermint oil contained anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties against Staphylococcus aureus, which is an infection most commonly found in the nose and on the skin which leaves visibly red, swollen and painful abscesses or boils behind.”

2 – Cloves: Are one of those spices that you find used almost in excess during the Christmas season.  Cloves fight inflammation via a compound known as Eugenol. “Eugenol is highly effective in fighting inflammation as it works to block the COX-2 enzyme (which is what NSAIDS like ibuprofen do effectively).  They’re also a potent antioxidant as they have the flavonoids kaempferol and rhamnetin, which are proven to scavenge the body for free-radicals.” You can include cloves in a ton of  holiday foods and in the process you’ll help resist cancerr.

3 – Cinnamon: Cinnamon has a host of powerful health benefits. It’s been known to do so much for people suffering from a variety of health problems. The inflammation doesn’t stand a chance? That’s because Cinnamon has a compound called Cinnamaldehyde which works to fight an inflammatory marker known as the NF-kB proteins. With NF-kB kept at bay the body is better able to regulate its inflammatory response

4- Ginger: Ginger is a well known and frequently used anti-inflammatory. This is why it’s been used over the centuries for that very purpose. Ginger contains the compounds gingerols, shogaols, and paradols, which are absolutely wonderful at helping to ease inflammatory responses.

Derivatives of these compounds help neutralize the effects of dangerous free radicals.  6-gingerol is one of the gingerols and it targets the free radical peroxynitrite which is a frequent source of inflammation and pain.  As I mentioned in the other article, leaky gut causes inflammation and 6-gingerol helps reduce peroxynitrites’s tendency to cause an overgrowth of bad gut bacteria.

Another thing ginger does is it works like (NSAIDS) – ibuprofen, Aleve, Celebrex etc.  And using ginger to reduce inflammation associated with chronic inflammation is a great way to fight cancer.
